Black-collared Barbet
Lybius torquatus

Native Range: Africa

Notes: a common and brightly colored barbet of woodlands and gardens in southern Africa; barbets as a group occur in South America as well as Africa and are closely related to toucans; indeed, the South American barbet lineage is evolutionarily closer to the toucan lineage (which is strictly South American) than it is to the African barbet lineage.
