Golden-tailed Woodpecker
Campethera albigoni

Native Range: Africa

Notes: a rather small woodpecker that inhabits woodlands and coastal thickets in southeastern Africa; gets its name from the fact that the shafts and barbs of its rectrices (tail feathers) are hued in yellow; mild sexual dimorphism with the male showing an all-red crown and red moustachial patch whereas the female has red only on the back of the head.
