Notes: closely related to Bay-breasted Warbler and likewise nests in spruce woods; at other times of year can be found in any type of forest; very different breeding and nonbreeding plumages; when breeding, male shows a black crown and black-and-white streaking overall; in nonbreeding plumage, body coloration is much duller and yellowish-gray.
