Notes: a very large (indeed the largest) bustard; inhabits open savannas; mostly terrestrial but certainly capable of flight; little sexual dimorphism; in an amazing courtship display the male raises his crest, inflates a white throat "balloon", and spreads and throws his tail onto his back.
