Northern Bobwhite
Colinus virginianus

Native Range: North America and Middle America

Notes: a small and secretive quail of brushy woods and fields; found in groups, known as coveys, of a dozen or more birds, at least some being prior offspring from the large clutches that parents raise; gets its name from its whistled song, "bob-white", with the emphasis being on the rising second syllable.
