Allen's Hummingbird
Selasphorus sasin

Native Range: North America

Notes: during his courtship "dance" starting about 30 feet above the ground, a male dives repeatedly in shallow arcs that culminate in a steep climb followed by a dive downward nearly to the ground accompanied by a loud "vrrrrip" sound made by his tail feathers; one of the most common "hummers" in southern California.
